Features
Book Reading
Rodel Reader prioritizes local reading in its design, with core reading functions built around local reading. However, it also supports online reading based on actual circumstances.
Local Reader
The local universal reader is a customized version of foliate-js and has been optimized for common book types (e.g., comics from Kmoe).
PDFs are a bit special in this regard.
You can choose to open PDFs with the universal reader, but this is only suitable for simple reading scenarios (e.g., plain text or comics).
By default, PDF files will open with a dedicated PDF reader based on pdf.js, allowing for more complex operations (e.g., zooming, rotating), making it suitable for reading scanned documents, academic papers, etc.
Online Reader
In Rodel Reader, online reading
refers specifically to connecting to Legado or Reader3 Server for source-based reading.
Considering usage scenarios, most people will use it for web novel reading, so the online reader is a pure text reader based on the native RichTextBlock control (but it also provides partial support for images).
For details on collaborating with OpenRead, refer to Connect to Reader (APP).

Podcast
Podcasts are managed via local subscriptions. You can discover podcasts from around the world on the Podcast discovery
page (data sourced from iTunes).
If that’s not enough, Rodel Reader further extends the boundaries of podcast sources by allowing you to directly subscribe to BiliBili UP hosts/episode videos/video collections.
For video content that doesn’t require visuals, you can listen to them just like podcasts.
