Browse and read RSS subscription content

Rodel Reader provides a comfortable RSS reading experience with multiple view modes and rich reading settings.

Interface Overview

Article List

The RSS reading interface consists of the following parts:

Article List

List Display

The article list shows the following information:

SummaryArticle content excerpt
Cover ImageArticle cover (if available)
Publish TimeFriendly time format (e.g., "3 hours ago")

FeedSource feed name (shown in aggregate mode)
Status IconsRead, favorite, read later markers

Filter Options

Filter controls at the top of the article list:

Unread OnlyShow only unread articles (default on)
AllShow all articles

Sort Options

Click the sort button to select sorting method:

Publish TimeSort by publish date (default)
AuthorSort by author name

Each sort supports ascending and descending toggle.

Searching Articles

Enter keywords in the search box to search:

  • Article title
  • Article summary
  • Article content

Search results update in real-time with paginated loading support.


Aggregate Reading

Besides viewing individual feeds, you can use aggregate views to see articles from multiple feeds.

Time Aggregation

Aggregate Reading at the top of the sidebar shows articles from all feeds within a time range:

You can adjust the default time range in SettingsRSS.

Virtual Folders

The sidebar provides two virtual folders:

Article Reader

Click an article in the list to display its content in the reading area on the right.

Article Actions

The reader toolbar provides the following actions:

Context Menu

Right-click an article list item for quick actions:

  • Mark read/unread
  • Add to favorites
  • Read later
  • Open in browser

Text Selection Actions

After selecting text in the reading area:

Image Actions

Right-click an image in the article:

  • Save Image: Download image locally

Full-text Fetching

Some feeds only provide excerpts. Rodel Reader supports automatic full-text fetching.

Enable Full-text Fetching

  1. Right-click feed → Edit
  2. Enable Auto-fetch full text option
  3. When reading articles, full content will be automatically fetched

How It Works

Tip

Full-text fetching depends on the original website's accessibility. Some sites may not extract content correctly.

Click the settings button in the reader toolbar to customize your reading experience.

Override options help maintain a consistent reading experience across articles from different sources.


Text-to-Speech

Rodel Reader supports article read-aloud (TTS) functionality.

  1. Click the Read Aloud button in reader toolbar
  2. Or select text and choose Read Aloud

Read Status Management

Auto-mark as Read

Opening an article automatically marks it as read.

Manual Management

Sync Services

When using sync services (like Inoreader, Miniflux, etc.), read status syncs bidirectionally:

  • Local mark read → Syncs to cloud
  • Cloud status change → Syncs to local

FAQ

Article content is incomplete?

  1. Check if only an excerpt is provided
  2. Try enabling Auto-fetch full text
  3. Click Open in Browser to view original

Images not displaying?

  1. Check network connection
  2. Some sites restrict external linking
  3. Click Open in Browser to view original

How to batch mark as read?

Click the Mark All Read button at the top of the article list to mark all articles in the current list as read.

How are reading settings saved?

Reading settings are global and automatically saved, applying to all articles.
